How do I know that I need to schedule appointment for Comprehensive Eye Check-up?

  • I am 40 years old and above
  • I never sit and talk about my eyes and vision with doctor before
  • I had done my comprehensive eye check-up, but only a year ago
  • I have done eye check-up but only at optical shop
  • I notice abnormalities with my vision
  • I have diagnosed with diabetes or another health conditions
  • I have a family history of eye disease
  • I unconsciously change my habit of seeing things, like squinting or close one eye when reading or hold reading materials away to see them clearly

Reminder! Many eye and vision problems have no early warning signs or obvious symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent vision loss

What I need to prepare for Comprehensive Eye Check-up at Prof Muhaya Eye & LASIK Centre?

  • Ensure that you already made an appointment and has been confirmed with your appointment schedule. If you don’t, call us at 03-8741 5138 (office hours) and 017-877 1819 (SMS / WhatsApp) to schedule your appointment
  • Ensure you already had your meal prior to the visit. The overall processes may take up to 3 hours. Bring along your favourite reading materials as well to optimize your time while waiting
  • Please take your regular medication at your usual time
  • Ensure you bring your sunglasses along. Kindly note that pupil dilation eye drop will be applied during the eye examination, you may experience blur vision temporarily
  • Ensure you have arranged someone to drive you home after all procedures have been completed as you are not advised to drive on that day
  • If you are a contact lens wearer, kindly do not wear contact lens during the Comprehensive Eye Check-up. If you are planning to do ReLEx-SMILE or LASIK, ensure you remove your contact lens at least 10 days prior to your eye check-up day
  • If you are not feeling well prior or on the day of Comprehensive Eye Check-up, kindly call us to reschedule your appointment to another date

What I need to do before proceeding ReLEx-SMILE or LASIK at Prof Muhaya Eye & LASIK Centre?

  •  The first step in journey to be free from spectacles involves setting up a Comprehensive Eye Check-up appointment.
  • Congratulations if you are diagnosed as a suitable candidate. For ReLEx-SMILE, we ensure you can do the treatment on the same day of your Comprehensive Eye Check-up. While LASIK you may require 2 days to complete the process of the whole treatment. Hence, you may arrange your schedule accordingly.
  • If you are not feeling well prior or on the day of procedure, kindly call us to reschedule your appointment to another date
  • We suggest you to call our landline number and talk directly with our staff to know more on the procedures

Postoperative care after ReLEx-SMILE or LASIK

Congratulations! You have made yourself free from glasses and contact lens through ReLEx-SMILE & LASIK. How about the postoperative care?

  • You are advised to lubricate your eyes with artificial tears as prescribed. You will enjoy clearer vision when your eyes are moist and not dry.
  • It is common to experience slight increase in light sensitivity (photophobia) following ReLEx-SMILE or LASIK which may cause increased in tearing and eye irritation. Don’t worry. Lightly dab tears away from eyelids without applying pressure to the eye directly.
  • Ensure your hands are clean before touching the eye area. Maintaining personal hygiene is an important aspect in life. If your eye lids are sticky or itchy in the morning, you may gently clean them with a cotton ball moistened with sterile water. Lubricate your eyes with artificial tears.
  • Avoid splashing water into your eyes or submerge them into water.
  • For ReLEx-SMILE, ensure to avoid water activity for 1 week and eye make-up for 1 day.
  • For LASIK, ensure to avoid water activity at least for 1 month and eye make up for 1 week.

Postoperative care after cataract surgery

Congratulations! You have made a wise decision by undergoing cataract surgery. As you know, cataract is one of preventable blindness eye diseases. How about the postoperative care?

After the cataract surgery (for the first 1 or 2 weeks):

  • You need to refrain from rubbing, scratching or putting pressure to the eye.
  • You should wear eye shield on the operated eye especially during sleep for extra protection. The eye shield can be removed whenever you want to put eye drops.
  • Sunglasses may help to keep the eyes comfortable and less sensitive to light.
  • Avoid contact with possible contaminated water, i.e. swimming, fishing.
  • ‘Ruku’ and ‘sajda’ during solat can be performed in sitting posture during the first few days.
  • You may enjoy your usual diet following to the cataract surgery.
  • You need to use the eye drops as instructed by the doctor.
  • You will be reviewed within the first 1 week.
  • You may resume your usual routine when you feel comfortable.
